“Woo Hoo!”
After the maid of honor and the best people gave their speeches, Tara + Michael stood up to thank their family and friends for coming from far and wide to be there, including Michael’s family from his homeland of Scotland. Towards the end of her comments, Tara shared a simple story that perfectly captured the day. When she + Michael told her grandfather that they were engaged, after meeting on OK Cupid and dating for several years, he simply looked at them and said “Woo Hoo!”
Between the 18 person wedding party, the kilts (in tartan “Scotland Forever”) and the incredible champagne, tea-length wedding dress, Tara + Michael used their wedding to celebrate their lives together. They weren’t afraid to be a little bit different in doing so. After their first look, they tied the knot during a ceremony officiated by a friend that included a reading from the book of Liz Lemon and an exchange of written, rather than verbal, vows that were read later during their portrait session.
The reception was filled with hand-crafted details by Tara (who runs the amazing blog Penniless Socialite) including a table filled with old family pictures from both sides, and a slideshow made by Michael with hundreds of pictures ranging from when they were babies to when they met and ending with their engagement. It was a beautiful end to dinner and led to a few hours of dances and sing-a-longs. By the way, we even recreated 2 pictures from Tara’s childhood, can you tell which ones they are?
Looks like a great day was had by all. The photos are fabulous…
