Bridesmaids in jumpsuits! A plant-based reception menu! Christina + Ray set out to have an unconventional Asbury Park wedding and they definitely nailed it with their summertime wedding at The Asbury. These two met nearly 9 years ago as Freshmen at Monmouth University and got engaged on the steps near Wilson Hall, where we also got to take a few wedding day portraits, so after nearly 9 years together they knew that their wedding should represent their journey so far and their next step into the future. During their ceremony they chose to share promises + beliefs rather than vows because, as Christina perfectly put it, beliefs have room to grow and evolve over time as you learn and change. Afterwards, to kick off their reception, they shared a cheers with guests in memory of Christina’s father with his favorite drink (a whiskey sour) and swayed to an upbeat rendition of La Vie en Rose for their first dance. I love that these two vegans made sure to have a dinner menu that was as plant-based as possible and that they incorporated their own style into every element of their wedding.
