How can I sum up the amazingness that was Emi + Phil’s wedding in just a few short sentences? On a day that had thunderstorms on the forecast for weeks, they had a backyard wedding with blue skies, a mariachi band and an incredible custom green wedding dress. Oh! And I can’t not mention the bride’s incredible lavender hair. After a decade together, Emi + Phil tied the knot in their backyard. Their ceremony included planting a tree with their wedding party using soil from both of their childhood homes and a native american blessing. Afterwards, their guests enjoyed pizza from a food truck and an assortment of cupcakes and other delicious desserts while they danced late into the night. A few details I loved from this wedding:
- Unfortunately, just 2 days before the wedding, Phil’s dad fell and broke his shoulder, requiring a replacement surgery. The hospital surprised Emi + Phil by sending over someone to live-stream the entire ceremony to him. It was great seeing what a positive impact that had on them! It reminded me of Facetiming with my grandmother before my own wedding.
- One of the bridesmaids made Emi’s engagement ring and Emi made both wedding bands.
- Emi also made her incredible golden grown and Phil’s boutonniere.
- Traditionally, a first look involves one person approaching the other. For Emi + Phil’s first look, I had them both face away from one another so that, when they turned around, they would see each other at the exact same time.
Looks like a very special and joyous day. All the best Emi and Phil….and congrats too to jimmy and Karen. You all look fab as well! Joan x
